How you start your day sets the tone for the rest of your day. Even though you probably know this but hitting that snooze button just seems to tempting in the morning. But the early waker does really get the proverbial worm because waking up early is the first rung to climb on the ladder of success. It goes to say that you have the self-discipline to get out there and do what you need to in order to lead a happy and healthy life.
Now, how would you go about motivating yourself to rise up early in the morning and have yourself an amazing day. Here is a five-step strategy to being the early bird that swoops in for the win.
Step 1: Resolve firmly before you go to bed.
Your first thought in the morning will be a continuation of what you thought about while going to bed. This is why you are probably too excited to sleep on the night of your birthday or Christmas Eve, and as soon as the alarm goes off you are all enthusiastic about embracing the day.
On the flip side, if you thought “Oh man! I have to be at work in another five hours; I’m going to feel so tired,” then your first thought on waking will likely be “Oh! It’s already five hours and now I have to drag myself through the day”.
The key is consciously decide the intentions that you have for the next day and mindfully be positive.
Step 2: Move the alarm clock away
Moving the alarm clock away from the bed as far away as possible. This forces you to get up and turn it off so you are not tempted to hit snooze.
Step 3: Brush your teeth.
Give your body some time to get energized. Brush your teeth and splash some water on your face to charge up your motivation levels.
Step 4: Drink a full glass of water.
If you had a full night’s sleep, this means that your water levels are quite low. This can be a cause of fatigue. So drink up and hydrate yourself thoroughly.
Step 5: Wear your workout clothes.
Exercise is the best way to get your blood pumping. Before you shower break a sweat with a light workout in the morning.
Do these as part of your daily routine and you’ll notice that you have peaked mentally, physically and emotionally.
